OVER 70% OF THE ADULT POPULATION HAS GUM DISEASE

You would think a disease as common as this would cause more concern that it does.

Why is it ignored?
Most forms of gum disease do not cause pain and its signs and symptoms are considered "normal" by many people and so they overlook or ignore it.

So what is gum disease?

What dentists refer to as Periodontal Disease ranges from mild gingivitis to advanced periodontitis. It is a bacterial infection that attacks the gums and the jawbone that supports the teeth. In its most severe form it causes the bone that anchors the teeth to melt away resulting in teeth that become loose and eventually fall out. Once you have been diagnosed with the disease it is important to understand that regular treatment and monitoring is important to prevent recurrence of problems.
